The course
The Heritage Race is built around Hanoi's landmarks rather than around any single defining feature. The organisers name eleven heritage sites the race showcases: among them Hoan Kiem Lake, the Opera House, St Joseph's Cathedral, the Flag Tower, the Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Quan Thanh Temple, and Tran Quoc Pagoda on West Lake. Which of them you pass, and in what order, we cannot confirm. Hanoi is low and level and the course reflects that. There is no climb worth naming. The difficulty is heat, humidity and the sheer number of turns. The start has moved more than once. A closed loop at Hoan Kiem Lake ran through 2023; the 2024 race set off from Le Duan, by Thong Nhat Park, and looped back to it. Beyond that we would rather not guess. If you ran it, your memory of the order is better than ours.
- Start
- Le Duan, by Thong Nhat Park, central Hanoi (2024 edition; the venue has moved between editions and the organiser's own race page lists the start as to be announced)
- Finish
- Back at the Le Duan / Thong Nhat Park start — the 2024 course is a closed loop. The exact finish venue could not be verified.
- Shape
- loop
- Terrain
- Flat throughout. Central Hanoi has no meaningful gradient; the demands are heat, humidity and a high number of turns through the old city.
- Hanoi Flag Tower
- Hanoi Opera House
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
- Hoan Kiem Lake
- Quan Thanh Temple
- St Joseph's Cathedral
- Temple of Literature
- Tran Quoc Pagoda and West Lake
Course details for this race are limited in published sources, so this description covers only what we could confirm.
